Nostalgic Notes

"I Love Hearing Old Music I Used To Love. They Are Like Old Memories You Can Always Go Back To."    - Unknown

As the title suggests, nostalgic notes mean the tracks that we heard and played on the radio a hundred times during our childhood/teenage years. When listening to older songs, the beat, voice and the entire song, in general, is less edited and as a result produces better music than the majority of the modernised genres out there today.

New, modern music has the same beat, tempo, style, etc. What makes old music so unique is how original each song is. A lot of modern songs sound the same, probably because the same style is taken from another artist. Old music has a style that fits the personality and individuality of the artist.

Although modern music pleases our minds and gets us in a party mood, but in the bygone songs there was a strong social or personal message that truly connects people with its lyrics rather than just by beats. Many a time there were hidden messages or meanings in the older songs which when uncoded made us realise our self-worth and made us appreciate all the people who stuck with us through good and through bad times.

Nostalgic music is not just restricted to being heard by that generation, music is music and no generation gap or other external factors can interrupt listeners from listening to those beats. Nostalgic songs play the role of a bridge to connect the new generation to the former generation and to understand it better through melodies.

In this situation, that is the COVID-19 Pandemic, people were isolated and could hardly connect with their loved ones hence nostalgic songs or the bygone games and series helped them to replay their old life again. This motivated the people to hold on to this stressful situation without giving up.

Here are some nostalgic songs that still please our mood and get our body swaying to its beats.

CNCO is one of the many artists, who have picked up the songs that were long heard and loved but are now getting slid under the rug. Their album Déja Vú features many such songs with a new beat that suits this generation. They produced this album to get the older generation and the new generation to be connected through music.

Although the artists who produced such beautiful melodies in the past may have turned old now, but their melodious voices which were captured in these songs remain everlasting, passing on from one generation to another and by this process, the widened generation gap tries to shrink itself. For the purpose of producing a worth listening song, artists tend to produce songs that have a pleasing beat, voice and other musical effects, yet it fails to portray a meaningful message for the new generation.
